Norcross, GA
Technical Writer / Instructional Designer
MindIQ, Inc.

MindIQ develops customized computer-based training and provides remote hosting for Web-based training.

· Help authoring: Drafted a Help module with RoboHelp for a Windows application being developed in Java. The application allowed users to create and administer Web-based training (WBT) courses for remote hosting. Help module featured: instructions for basic and advanced procedures, comprehensive index, many cross-references.
· Instructional design: For the WBT application noted above, drafted two training courses and a reseller certification test.
· Production and proofreading: Worked with one other writer on a project with about 2,000 pages of training and reference materials on Compaq SANworks and StorageWorks. We used Dreamweaver, PowerPoint and Word to plug in content, formatted it to fit the client's style guide, and proofread it.

Sep. 1997 to Oct. 2000
Atlanta, GA
Information Coordinator (contractor)
IBM Global Services

Worked as part of a marketing communications team. Though brought on to be essentially a data processor, I frequently made contributions well beyond expectations. Contracted through what became CDI Professional Services.

· Archive and data management: Led the local writing team to a consensus on the procedures for naming and storing files and directories. Tracked three versions of marketing collateral documents (internal, business partner, and public) for more than 150 Integrated Technology services in the form of newsletters, presentations, proposal material, sales guides, and specification sheets. Maintained the archives on the local Windows server and networked databases on Notes, VM, and the Web as services were introduced, modified, and withdrawn. Converted hundreds of documents from Ami Pro to Word Pro in company-wide upgrade.
· Production and style editing: Proofread, modified, updated, and (as needed) repaired the marketing documents using Ami Pro, Word Pro, Corel Draw, and Lotus Freelance.
· Technical support: Helped coworkers with using software and peripherals on Windows and VM whenever needed.

Apr. 1994 to Sep. 1997
Smyrna, GA
PC Analyst
ACE Marketing Services

ACE is one of the largest direct mailing services in the Southeast, shipping tens of millions of pieces per year. I handled projects involving up to more than 100,000 addresses.

· Data conversion: Converted customer files in various formats (fixed-column, character-delimited, and application-based) to standard layouts in DBF format. Configured queries (especially de-duplication) to filter and sort the customer data as required for the project.
· Form design: Produced and modified templates for mailing labels and form letters.
· Software testing: Did beta-testing on the scaled-down Windows version of the project management program developed at MSG (see below).
· Technical support: Frequently helped customers and coworkers with using peripherals and programs on PCs and mainframes.

Jan. 1993 to Jul. 1993
Smyrna, GA

MSG was located at ACE (see above) and produced software for their use. Had the company continued, I would have done more actual product support. The principal for MSG later became a manager at ACE and hired me to join his Data Processing department.
