Removed from active status, such as a submission being rejected or a herald being removed from office |
Chevron |
Along with Shell, a mining corporation with an odd, yet feasible, heraldic badge |
Crescent |
The hereditary mark of the second son of someone who has hereditary arms; also, a buttery roll that's "part of this complete Continental breakfast" |
Enfield |
A nickname for an eccentric, servile deputy to a potent officer |
Engrailed |
Surrounded by large cups |
Eradicated |
Something eliminated such that it can never recur or return; a concept foreign to heraldry |
Ermine |
How some heralds in Britain might say the name "Herman" |
Fess |
In rural vernacular, what a penitent herald does when they admit to an act of their deviousness |
Fitchy |
Describing someone who moves around or handles something in a restless manner |
Fleury |
A burst of activity, such as when heralds learn of free food or heraldic stuff becoming available |

Paly |
A group of book heralds; not a term used by most book heralds |
Pile |
When tidy, it's a vertical stack of items, such as books and notebooks; when untidy, it's more like a mound |
Raguly |
Pasta pillows filled with meat, cheese, vegetables, or some combination thereof |
Rustre |
A formerly active herald who is long out of practice |
Sable |
Black; yes, outside heraldry, a sable is also an animal with dark brown fur, but in heraldry, it's just black |
Saltire |
The superstitious practice tossing a pinch of salt with either hand over one's opposite shoulders for good luck |
Sinople |
A drink, green in hue, to be invented or discovered in the near future by heralds that will cause at least one imbiber to exclaim that it's the best stuff in the known world (if that hasn't happened already as you read this) |
Trippant |
A person or situation, in the herald's opinion, that is reminiscent (so far as the herald knows) of a hallucinatory experience |
| Unguled | The condition of a place (generally a cemetery) after the gules have been dispelled |
Voided |
