His site has mucho information on the origins and uses of many rhythms, rhythm notation in both text and graphical (notes on a staff) format, many MIDI files, and two rhythm generators - one that is Web-based and another that is a Palm Pilot application.

Per Jas, this is from a handout for a class he taught at Pennsic 2001.

Jas's Rhythm List

A tonbak is a Persian goblet drum related to the Arabic doumbek. Notable pages: drums in Persian paintings (with pictures), historical social status of tonbak players, analysis of old rhythms. Owner: Peyman Nasehpour.

Peyman also runs these email groups on Yahoo! for percussionists: CylindricalDrums | Goblet_Drumming | IndianTabla | kettledrums

RhythmWeb- "world of rhythm"
Big site, much information. There are sections devoted to particular instruments (including bongo, bougarabou, cajon, conga, jembe, doumbek, frame drum, gourd, mallets, taiko) and more sections on a particular region or culture. Many pictures and links. Original owner: Eric Stuer.

CD project pages:

Snare Drum Rudiments (Vic Firth)
Features "all 40 of The Percussive Arts Society's Essential Snare Drum Rudiments", play-along video files, many play-along MIDI files, exercises with "real world" musical phrases, advice articles elsewhere on the site. Both "Sylvanus" (Billy Woods) and Uncle (Armando) Mafufo recommend using rudiments for hand drumming practice.
